Aiming at WCAG 2.2 Level AA, with the 3 places we are not there yet listed below. If something here stops you, that is our defect and not your failing.
The claim itself
Five parts: the date, the guidelines, the level, how far the claim reaches, and what it covers.
Level AA
3 known issues remain open, so a full claim would not be true.
The date a person last evaluated the whole of it.
If that date has passed and this page has not moved, hold it against us.
The statement
The part that matters
Open a row for where it happens, what it means for you, and what to do in the meantime. Every one of these was found by going and looking, and every one has a way round it today.
Each one named, dated and given a way round it.
Somebody cannot finish something because of this. It gets the earliest date.
Kept below, so the page shows movement rather than just intent.
Where it happens
The repayment and payment charts in the customer dashboard, and the calculator preview on the home page.
What it means for you
A screen reader reaches the chart and finds nothing to read. Anyone who cannot see the picture cannot get the information out of it at all — and on this site those pictures are about money.
What to do in the meantime
Every figure drawn in a chart is also published as a number. The fee schedule and the full worked example are on the fee schedule page, and the calculators state each figure in text beside the graphic.
Where it happens
The amount-and-term grid used to preview combinations.
What it means for you
The amount and term behind each cell sit in a browser tooltip, which most screen readers do not announce and which a touch screen has no way to open at all. On a phone, that information is simply not available.
What to do in the meantime
Use the calculator itself, which states the amount, the term and the annual percentage rate in text, and carries its state in the URL.
Where it happens
Every page, including the disclosures.
What it means for you
A Spanish-speaking customer in Texas cannot read the disclosures in the language they think in, which is the worst possible place for a comprehension gap.
What to do in the meantime
None on the site today. Write or call and we will work through it with you in Spanish.
Why there is no date
No date yet. A machine-translated disclosure is worse than no translation at all, so this waits for a human legal translation rather than shipping early.
Why there are issues on this page at all
How hard we looked
4 of these have been done. The two that have not are the two that would change this page most, which is exactly why they are on it.
Tab, shift-tab, arrows, Home, End and Escape, with a visible focus ring at every stop and no keyboard trap. The upload control is part of this specifically — a file input hidden with display:none leaves the tab order, which would make the application impossible to finish without a mouse.
Last done
Every color pair in the design system is a token with a measured ratio behind it. The brand gold is 2.33:1 on white and fails, which is why gold text and gold icons use a darker variant at 5.7:1 and the bright gold is confined to rules and decoration. The rule is enforced by a test, not by review.
Last done
Smooth scrolling is bypassed entirely rather than shortened, and every animated component lands on its intended final frame instead of on a blank one. Enforced across the component kit by a test.
Last done
Including the money tables, which become stacked cards rather than scrolling sideways. A customer checking what they owe should never have to swipe to find the amount.
Last done
Not yet done, and not claimed. Components are built against the ARIA authoring practices and reviewed in the accessibility tree, but that is not the same thing as a person listening to the application flow end to end, and we are not going to describe it as though it were.
Not yet commissioned. Everything on this page is our own assessment of our own work. The report date lands here when there is one.
If something stops you
Not a form that disappears into a queue. A person, a real clock, and the thing you were trying to do actually getting done.
The promise, before the process
This statement covers the website. If the phone, the screen or the language is the barrier, how to reach a person and be understood — relay, writing, another format, and what this site does in Spanish — is on communicating with us.
3 so far — including this page’s own claims about itself, which is where we started.
The equity tracker in the garage had no text alternative
It draws value, amount owed and equity over time as a line chart, and a screen reader found nothing to read. It now carries the same figures as a real table behind a “Read the figures as a table” control, with a caption naming the vehicle. Moved off the open list rather than deleted, because a page that only ever shows what is wrong never shows anybody that things get fixed.
Fixed
Accessibility claims that had no testing behind them
This page previously stated that the site was tested with VoiceOver, NVDA and JAWS. No record of that testing exists. The claim was removed and replaced with what has actually been done, which is shorter.
Fixed
The standard claimed was out of date and unscoped
The page aimed at WCAG 2.1 AA with no scope, no date and no known issues. It now names WCAG 2.2 AA, says which pages it covers, carries a review date, and lists what is still wrong.
Fixed
Tell us what you were trying to do. We will finish it with you on the spot, and fix the page afterwards.
