The garage
Has your car been recalled?
Straight from NHTSA, free, and nothing to sign up for. We are a funding company asking a safety question on your behalf, which is an odd thing for a funding company to do — and exactly why we do it.
One field
Plate or VIN
Nothing is stored and nothing is sent to us. Check a friend's car if you like.
Before you type anything
What comes back
Nothing checked yet
Put a plate or a VIN in above. You will get every open safety campaign NHTSA lists for that year, make and model — what it is, why it matters, and what the fix is.
How the garage worksWould rather not type it here? Ask NHTSA directly (opens in a new tab). Same answer, same source — we are only passing it through.
The obvious question
Why is a funding company running a safety check?
Three reasons, and none of them is a marketing one.
It costs you nothing and it might matter
A recall repair is free at any franchised dealer for that make. Notices are mailed to the registered owner on file, so on a car that has changed hands the letter can end up at an address nobody here has ever lived at.
It is the one repair nobody bills you for
Whatever else is on the list for your car, closing an open campaign is not a cost — the manufacturer covers the parts and the labor. It is also one less thing hanging over the vehicle if you ever come to sell it.
We cannot fake any of it
This whole panel is somebody else’s data, passed through unchanged. If we cannot reach NHTSA we say so rather than showing you an empty list that reads like an all-clear.
It changes nothing about your application
An open recall on your vehicle does not affect how an application is looked at, and we do not keep a record of what you checked here. If that sounds like we are leaving money on the table, we are — it is a safety notice, not a bargaining chip.
Straight answers
What people ask about recalls
Yes. A manufacturer safety recall is repaired free of charge at a franchised dealer for that make, whether or not you bought the car there and whether or not you are the first owner. You do not need to buy anything else while you are in.
Not necessarily. NHTSA publishes campaigns by year, make and model, and a campaign often covers only a range of build dates within that. A franchised dealer can confirm against your VIN in a couple of minutes, free.
A dealer can look it up against your VIN. Completed recall work is recorded against the vehicle at the dealer rather than in the glovebox, so a campaign listed here does not by itself mean the repair is still outstanding — asking is the only way to be sure.
Safety recalls do not expire. Some very old campaigns have parts availability problems, but there is no age cut-off on the obligation itself.
No. It does not change your rate, your term, or whether an application is accepted. We run the check because it is free and useful, not because it feeds anything.
Everything on this page comes from NHTSA. You never have to take our word for any of it — ask them yourself (opens in a new tab).

- Fee structure
- An arranging fee for each month the agreement runs, charged by Dollar Loans LLC, plus interest for the whole term, charged by S2 Funding LLC, both worked out on the amount advanced. Each is shown in dollars before you sign.
- Annual percentage rate
- The annual percentage rate counts our fee and S2 Funding LLC's interest as one yearly figure, worked out by the actuarial method Regulation Z sets out. Until our way of calculating it has been checked, this site prints the dollar figures and leaves the rate out. S2 Funding LLC's interest on its own is not the cost of this agreement.
