The garage

Your car, not just our collateral

Tell us about it once. From then on, everything here knows what you drive — what it is worth, what that unlocks, and what the manufacturer has quietly recalled.

One field

Plate or VIN. That is the whole ask.

No account and no email. Nothing you type here is sent to us.

Either one. A VIN is the 17-character code on your dashboard or door jamb.

Why we ask

It is how we find the year, make and model without making you type them. Nothing is stored, no account is created, and this page does not send what you type anywhere.

Know roughly what is on the clock? It sharpens the band.

A rough number is fine.

Four panels

What the garage actually knows

Your car is the whole basis of this arrangement. So it gets a screen of its own rather than one line on a form — four panels, no account, and every figure carrying its own receipt.

  • What it is worth

An indicative band, with the basis, the date, the number of comparable sales behind it and how sure we are — printed under the figure, not in a footnote.

    Check a value
  • What that unlocks

Two ceilings decide a vehicle title advance. We show both, name the one that binds, and write out the arithmetic so you can check it with a calculator.

    See the ceiling
  • What has been recalled

Open safety campaigns for your year, make and model, straight from NHTSA. Free, no account, and the repair costs you nothing at a franchised dealer.

    Run a recall check
  • What changes over time

Value, what is owed, and what is actually yours — month by month. Real observations only, and no forecast line pretending to know next quarter.

The best page here

We could write “up to $50,000, depending on your vehicle”

We would rather show the arithmetic. Two ceilings apply to a vehicle title advance, and the lower one wins — every time, for everyone, whatever anyone tells you on the phone.

Ceiling one
3%

of your gross annual income, before tax

Unified municipal ordinance — citation being confirmed

Ceiling two
70%

of the retail value of your vehicle

Unified municipal ordinance — citation being confirmed

Which one applies
The lower one

Always. There is no version of this where the bigger number wins.

Note:

Why publish this at all

Because it is the one thing in this category that cannot be faked. It is two public percentages and a real valuation. Anyone can check our arithmetic, and anyone who wants to copy it has to start showing their numbers too.

We arrange from $2,000 to $50,000, and it is the ceiling above — not the top of that range — that decides nearly every one of these. Here is why, in one line of arithmetic: 3% of gross annual income only reaches $50,000 at an income of about $1.7 million a year. Better you know that here than three forms in.

Condition

Five words, not a slider

A slider at 63% means nothing to anybody and cannot be argued with. Pick the sentence that sounds like your car. When someone inspects it, they are answering the word you chose — which makes a change a conversation rather than a surprise.

  • Like new

Barely used, no marks, full service history, and you still have both keys.

    What someone checks

    • No paint damage, no dents, no curbed wheels
    • Interior with no wear on the seat bolsters or the pedals
    • Service history complete and stamped
    • Tires with most of their tread left

A narrow description — pick it only if it genuinely fits.

  • Well kept

Looked after. A couple of small marks up close, nothing you would apologize for.

    What someone checks

    • Paint tidy, a chip or two at most
    • Interior clean, light wear on the driver seat
    • Servicing mostly up to date
    • Everything electrical works

A broad description. Plenty of cars fit it.

  • Everyday driver

Scuffs, a scratch, maybe a small dent. Runs fine and gets you where you are going.

    What someone checks

    • Visible scratches or a small dent or two
    • Interior wear you would notice but not mind
    • A service or two missed
    • Tires with legal tread but not much spare

The broadest of the five. If you are unsure, start here.

  • Rough but running

Cosmetically tired, mechanically sound. It starts, it drives, it is not pretty.

    What someone checks

    • Panel damage, faded paint or mismatched panels
    • Interior wear, tears or a cracked dash
    • Known niggles that do not stop it driving
    • Tires near the limit

A broad description. Plenty of cars fit it.

  • Needs work

Something is really wrong and you know what it is. Tell us anyway — it changes the figure, not the answer.

    What someone checks

    • A mechanical fault that needs fixing
    • Accident damage, repaired or not
    • Warning lights currently on
    • Not currently roadworthy

A narrow description — pick it only if it genuinely fits.

5 tiers, and each one names what an inspector would actually be checking. Picking the accurate one costs you nothing: it moves the figure, which is what it is for, and it means an inspection has a word to answer rather than a surprise to deliver.

More than one car

A household garage, not a single record

Three cars on the drive and only one of them carries real equity. Put them all in and see for yourself which — nobody needs to talk you into anything when the figures are side by side.

What a full garage gets you

  • Every vehicle valued on the same basis, on the same day.
  • The equity ceiling worked out per car, so you can see what each one could support.
  • Recall checks on all of them at once.
  • A value history per car, month by month.
